Well fellow Dragfools, I have been out to the track twice so far, not for me, but to see my nephews race.
I am gonna wait a few more weeks for the temp to warm up.
But I wanted to say hi to all the juniors out there. What a great time and show you all put on. I cant believe how fast these dragsters are going, and all of the upgrades and performance parts.
I went out to Bremerton 3 weeks back, and brought my daughter, she is six. She likes the big cars, but everytime the juniors are called up, she gets so excited and say's dad, let's go, dont want to miss them. She truly has a passion, and cant wait for her time to start racing.
My dad and I had a idea, Bremerton was running the following weekend as well, so we loaded up her dragster, yes she has one. ( Luke use to race it ) It maybe old, and way out of date, but it is hers, and with some help from friends, we will update it and enjoy it.
We fired it off, some people came up to us, asked us about it, and said they have not seen this one in awhile, we had fun talking about it. Selena polsihed it 2-3 times, and love when we fired it off, what a great time.
My point in bringing this topic up, is it all has to start somewhere. I did not have this when I was a kid. Seeing how win or lose, everyone has fun. The kids all pit together, and everyone is more than happy to help out, or lend a hand. I too met some great people who saw Selena, and want to help. Where else will you find this kind of help and support ? At the dragstrip ofcourse. Lot's of positive role models for our youth to be molded by. To this day, I have not seen any other activity with so much parent?child involvement.
I even see some dad's and mom's getting out of there racecars and running to help there children.
I am glad to be part of this generation.
If you are thinking about getting your kid involved, come out to a race. You will find the kids very happy to talk and show you there cars.
My hat also goes off to Bremerton raceways for making sure the kids get equal time in time trails and elimanations, a fun place to race, also a very family friendly enviroment.
Have a great season, enjoy family, fun and cars. Will keep you updated on my quest for making the Altered a competitive car this year.
Later Dragfools.
Christopher
